Dr. Mark K Li has been a primary care physician for the past 30 years. He has also served as Medical Director of the Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home in Washington DC, the Sligo Nursing Home in Maryland, the Franciscan Monastery, and Montgomery Hospice Home Care division. He is speaker for over 10 organizations covering topics on health.
Under his leadership as president, the Chinese American Medical Society-Mid Atlantic Chapter received an award of Excellence by the American Liver Foundation in 2008. Dr Li was awarded a Governor’s citation in 2008. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Asian Health Foundation, a member of the National Viral Hepatitis Round table, Board member of Montgomery Hospice, Board member of the CCACC (Chinese Cultural and Community Service Center),VP of the American China Medical Exchange Society.
Dr. Li was invited by the American Liver Foundation to coordinate the Senate Staff Hepatitis B screening on 5-20-2009 at the Capitol Hill. He initiated and works with different advocacy organizations to make the Congressional Hepatitis screening on 7-21-2009 a great success. He was again invited by the Congressional Viral Hepatitis Caucus for the Hepatitis Screening Event at the Capitol Hill on 5-23-2013.
In October, 2009 Governor O’Malley appointed Dr. Li to be a member of the Maryland Community Health Resource Commission. On 5-31-2012, Dr Li presented a live National Web cast on Hepatitis B for HRSA, a division of the USHHS with an introduction by Honorable Secretary Dr. Howard Koh. He participated in the White House Physician Conversation on Care Coordination on 6-6-2012.
